Classical Music Sucks
Is it just us, or is classical music humor getting funnier and a little darker? Here, the meme page Classical Music Sucks adapts the Breitbart reader archetype to the anti-Helmut Lachenmann set.
Rolando Villazón
“Mr villazon [sic] I would love to see you in some kind of Dr Jekyll, Mr Hyde role or as vampire. You would look convincing,” one user comments. He does show a wide acting range in this photo, stretching from serious yearning operatic hero to goofy yearning operatic hero.
Andris Nelsons
Is the Boston Symphony Orchestra conductor giving the audience the middle finger here? That’s the thrust of some of the comments on this post, and while we don’t think he is, we might feel differently if we had been sitting in that upper right hand balcony. Joyce DiDonato
Just a normal opera star selfie, we hear you saying? Wait until you see one user’s side by side comparison with the cover of an Evanescence album.

Is It Schubert or Boulez Hall?

The new Pierre Boulez Hall in Berlin might be named after an important 20th-century composer. Krzysztof Penderecki

Krzysztof Penderecki (from left: Krzysztof Penderecki, Man in Suit Lurking, General Giving a Handshake) winner for best choral performance for “Penderecki Conducts Penderecki, Volume 1.”
The Danish String Quartet
“Wait, where are you guys from?”
Daniil Trifonov
“Great concert, Daniil, but lose the beard.”

Do we stalk the Hawaii Symphony’s Instagram page when it’s cold, dark and gray outside? Yes, yes we do. ¶
